Banging on the drum

I've been doing everything I can to postpone doing the things that absolutely have to get done. So far this morning I've walked the dog (who tried to jump up and rub his filthy little paws all over the kiddies on their way to school), made lunches for my daughter and sister, played several games of Spider, read the newspaper, had tea and coffee and toast and done a quick tidy in the living room - well, "tidy" would perhaps be the wrong word as the living room looks pretty much just as messy as it did when I started, but I did re-align some stacks of newspaper into more decorative piles and I did stare at the rest of the chaos with good intentions for a sizeable amount of time. I'm seriously contemplating heading back to the kitchen any second now to make more coffee, because, well, I can't possibly work without coffee.
