Under the apple boughs, down by the mill
May. 17th, 2004 01:09 pmHome again, finally. I got back on Saturday, but haven't hit the computer until today because my family missed me, yo.
It was really hard to leave my aunt, and I'm worried about how she's going to cope on her own. She was married to my uncle for more than forty years, and even though she'd had a very difficult time with him for the last couple of them, he was the main focus of her life. I think the adjustment is going to be rather painful. While I was there, we did manage to sort through the great mess of paperwork that always seems to accompany death, so at least she doesn't have to be fussed with that on her own. Given that she couldn't remember her social insurance number or how to spell her own middle name, that's probably a good thing.
Apparently you all managed to overlook my instruction to lead completely boring lives while I was away. A quick glance at the sheer volume of postings on my friends list over the past three weeks gives me to believe that I shall be able to catch up approximately never. If I've missed anything pivotal (other than the ADIDAS video), please point me in the right direction. The "100 Ways" challenge stories must have been posted by now, right? Only, I seem to have lost the link, so if someone could give me that, I'd be most grateful.
My head feels like it's still bouncing around on a bus somewhere between here and Osoyoos, which isn't good because I have a job interview tomorrow morning that I really should be preparing for. It's not as stressful as it could be, because I know the people really well and have worked with them for years, but still. Preparation is good, yes? Figuring out clever answers to all those clever little questions that people who don't know how to interview seem to love so dearly. More alarming is the fact that, after staring into my closet for the better part of a morning, I've reached the inescapable conclusion that I'm just going to have to wear my pyjamas to the interview. No, really.
