A little belatedly, I just want to say that I'm THRILLED with my MTYG assignment. THRILLED!!! So thrilled that the thrillingness of it immediately obliterated all traces of the first assignment from my memory so I can't even report on the OMG trauma or lack thereof that it inspired. Well, I could open my email and have another look at it, but, dude, why would I bother when I'm so very otherwise occupied being THRILLED with my second and final assignment?
We'll just see how long that lasts, won't we ...
And if you happen to be my Santa, well:
Dear Santa,
I bet you thought I'd never get around to writing, didn't you? Well, pshaw. I may be slow, but I'm not ENTIRELY without manners.
Santa, dear, Santa, I do hope you're happy with your assignment. I'm a die-hard TrickyFisher at heart, but I'm going to be delighted with either pairing. The truth is, I chose Chris/AJ as my second pairing because a) Chris (CHRIS!!!) and b) I don't actually know that I've ever read a Chris/AJ story, and it just seems like a singularly amusing pairing to me. If it makes you want to run screaming into the night, though, and the idea of writing TrickyFish makes you want to get all stabby with horror, Lance/AJ would be a very satisfactory alternative crossover pairing.
If you want a few more hints about what I like and what I don't, keep reading. Otherwise, carry on carrying on and write whatever pleases you.
- I believe I said in my request that I prefer happy endings. That hasn't changed in the last few days. I don't mind the odd angsty moments here and there, but full blown angst-o-rama with no happy ending payoff would be hard to take.
- That said, I'm not a big fan of sap, either. Or copious weeping. Or multiple paragraphs worth of characters professing eternal love and devotion to one another. Or kids. Or puppies. (God, what a miserable cow I am.)
- AUs are fine, as long as the guys are recognizable as themselves. Alternate timelines, alternate realities = also cool.
- I ADORE stories that include all the guys (from N Sync, anyways, although if you're writing the crossover and not planning a long story, I'm quite happy with you just focusing on the pairing because otherwise WHOA. Lotta people to grapple with.) I love canon-based stories from any era, stories that involve miscommunication and misunderstandings, and stories where the guys are guys.
- Snark is my friend.
- Character bashing makes me sad, and I'd really prefer not to be sad.
- Did I mention how much I love snark?
Mostly what I love is that somebody--YOU!--is writing me my very own popslash story, and that's pretty much more important than any other consideration. Try not to stress (AHAHAHAHA!!!), and I hope you have fun writing. Or, if not fun, then a minimum of terror and bitter self-recrimination for having signed up to begin with.
Thank you, Santa, baby!
