Hey, hey. Just poking my head out briefly to say that I haven't spontaneously combusted, although the warmth might be welcome, and I haven't been whisked away by aliens, because apparently they have no discernment whatsoever.

Or maybe they just like human folk who can write sex scenes without wanting to stab themselves in the heart repeatedly in frustration. That wouldn't be me.

And that's pretty much all I've got.

I'm a dialogue whore, I'm afraid. I could write dialogue till the cows come home and never get tired of it. Stringing it together with connective tissue is more demanding, and I often have to go back and fill in after I've finished a scene. The innermost thoughts thing, yes, I like writing that too, especially when the character is having a neurotic, semi-delusional moment.

You know, all the stories I've written have been light, fluffy, heavily dialogue driven things, and I'd really like to take a few more risks, try writing something a bit angstier, maybe, or something where the connective tissue doesn't always take a back seat to the dialogue.

That's exactly what I do, too. I mean, with dialogue, I just write what they say, then fill in what they're doing while they're saying it later.

I tend to write angsty more than light, and you can tell the state of my marriage by which kind of story I write more often. :) It's good to work stuff out in writing, sometimes. Fluff is hard, because if you can't pull off the dialogue, it falls pretty flat. My dialogue often sounds stiff to me, or overly dramatic. It's been fun to find out what I'm good at and what I can't do well for shit.

Yes, that's when it's the most fun.

But, dude, that story you wrote? "Lance Went Down to Georgia" -- one of my favourite fluffy stories ever! The dialogue in that puppy rocked, all smart and peppery, and just. so. funny. You did get my feedback on that one, right? Because, yep. Loved that story. I was just so glad you'd recc'd it when I was looking for Basez.

Oh yeah, I got your feedback. It was wonderful, thank you again. I have to admit, I'm kind of proud of that story, I think I like it the best of all the ones I've written.
