It's so beautiful outside: sun and snow and ice-crystal-sparkly, and people have even shoveled their sidewalks for a change so I didn't have risk death or severe head trauma when I walked to work this morning, always a plus. The day before yesterday we had 100 km/hour winds. Yesterday snow. Weather, dude. You just never know these days.

And work? Is not sucking like a sucking thing today, yay for that, and I don't even have to work tomorrow except to check email, so double the yay.

Also: new episode of Supernatural tonight!

All in all, I think I'd have to give the day a B+.

A couple of questions for those of you who know these things:

- Other than the TrickyFish day challenge on February 2nd, are there any other popslash challenges on the horizon? The imminent horizon, that is, rather than May or June or, say, January 2025.

- Does anyone on my flist who appreciates the wonder that is MCR know whether or not Gerard Way can cook? My MCR canon is shaky like whoa.

- Why does my lip balm taste so freaking AWFUL???

JuC Day is March 18. Is Remix happening this year? Because that's been around the same time and I think [livejournal.com profile] stubbleglitter is taking it over this year? Maybe? Or it's always possible that I'm off my rocker.

No, you're right, unless she's changed her mind.

I forgot about JuC Day. I'd better start writing.

*sigh* I want to. But ever since Lance came out and then said that the other guys didn't know, I'm stuck. I have no idea what to believe, and although there were a couple of sesa stories that dealt with that very well, every time I try and write Lance now, it's all melancholy and sad, unless it's Joey.

Although I did manage to write some Epic ficlets the other day for Five Things, but that was a universe I already knew, and had written before the Big Announcement.

And it's silly, I know. I could write a melancholy TrickyFish, I guess. I'm gong to try and write something, and we'll see how it comes out. I actually have about a half a page-go me, I know,

In other words, yes. :) Are you? *hopes also*

But, but, but -- I can't believe they didn't know. And, besides, didn't Chris kind of intimate that he did know? Didn't his story kind of contradict Lance's? Because, dude, I think they knew, and I think that's why JC wore his rainbox t-shirt, why none of them would say whether anyone in the band was gay or not, why they were all essentially so gay friendly. I know that Lance said he hadn't told them and that they might have KNOWN without actually being TOLD, but don't you think that's just his way of protecting them from the same stupid speculation that's been going on about him?

Go you, yes, with the half page! It doesn't HAVE to be sad, does it? I mean, I have nothing against the sad except in the way that it isn't happy, but I'll read it. I just mean, there must be a way around the canon. There MUST.

And yes. I'm not sure what yet, though, so I'd best get cracking with the thinky-pondery brain contortions involved in coming up with an actual IDEA.

March 18? Excellent! For some reason I thought it was June. I've never done Remix because it doesn't really appeal to me for some reason. If it's happening this year, maybe I'll give it a shot.

Remix presents a very interesting challenge. I've done it twice, and the first time it was easy and I loved it, the second time almost killed me. I'll probably do it again this year, because, at the very least, it's a good writing experience.

Almost killed you, huh? Well, now, THERE'S a recommendation. ;) I suppose it is a good writing exercise. I just. Hmmmm. That means I have to let someone disembowel one of my stories, doesn't it? Can I handle that, I wonder? Or is it just going to make me all cranky and homicidal? I suppose it would be interesting, in a way. That IS how the Remix works, isn't it?

Yep, that's how it works. The first time, someone wrote a coda to one of my stories, and it fit and was cute and it didn't hurt at all. Last year, mercutio remixed Flopping the Little Guy and she moved it to Atlantis. I was amused, because I'm not an SGA fan IN THE LEAST, and because that's the story I wrote for her for the 2003 DWNOGA.

What killed me, and I should be more circumspect about saying this publicly, is that the person I remixed last year had not written anything that I liked, and it was hard for me to pick a story for that reason. I spent a lot of time sending excerpts to people and saying, omg, look what I have to work with!

But it's a popslash story challenge, and I don't like to miss those.

[livejournal.com profile] juc_day is March 18th, so that's only a little over two moths away. For me that's totally on the imminent horizon because I haven't even decided what I'm going to do for it and certain projects can take a lot of time.

JuC day doesn't necessarily require any fic-writing as the ways to celebrate it are wide and varied, but the more fic, the merrier. :)

Yikes! Only two months. That IS imminent, especially since TrickyFish day is February 2nd and I'm the slowest writer in the WORLD.

I know there are other ways to celebrate JuC day, but I'm just so LAME at everything else. No graphics abilities, no photo collections, terrible memory, yeah. It's gonna have to be fiction. :)

There will be a Dragon Challenge, signups on 23rd April, stories up on 6th June. :-)

You're not wearing an *Nsync lipgloss, are you? Because they are all vile.

Dragon Challenge! Yay! *marks calendar*

There's *Nsync lipgloss? BWAH! No, this is some hotel giveaway. The sales rep from the hotel where we booked our last meetings gave it to me along with some rather fabulous chocolate, presumably as an inducement to book there again. As if a few bites of stupendous chocolate would ever be enough to buy my business. Except, mmmm. Chocolate. *strikes all other hotels off list*

I don't believe much has been said either way. Frank interviewed that he just makes everything spicy and cajun to hide the burntness. Ray can apparently navigate a kitchen and a recipe.

Woo!

That's exactly what I was hoping. (Except the Frank and Ray bits, which are a total bonus.) I just hate it when canon gets in the way, but this? This I can work with. Thanks!

But NO PRESSURE, RIGHT???? OMG, dude, this story is NEVER going to live up to that kind of anticipation. Scale back. Imagine the kind of crappy story a newbie writer might produce in the fandom, clean up some of the more egregious grammatical and spelling errors, strip away anything remotely resembling adequate knowledge of canon, throw in a couple of sophomoric jokes, and yeah. *weeps*
